Temporary Visitor

Status of temporary visitor covers tourism, visits to relatives, field trip, participating in short meetings, market research in preparation for commencing business, etc.

Example :
・field trip and inspection, trade fair or plant visits
・visiting for business liaison, negotiations, contract signing, after sales service

● Temporary visitors may not engage in working activities.
● Certificate of Eligibility system does not cover temporary visitor visas.

To invite a foreign national as a temporary visitor, required process will vary depending on the nationality of the applicant.

1) Please check whether nationality or region of the applicant falls under visa exemptions.

2) For those with nationalities other than China, Russia, CIS countries, Georgia and Philippines

FAQ :
Q.  I am in Japan with tourist visa for 90 days. May I renew my visa and stay in Japan longer?
A.  Unless you have reasonable ground for renewing visa, temporary visit visa is in principle not to be renewed.
Q.  What if I am employed by a Japanese company while I stay in Japan as a tourist ?
A.  You may apply for Certificate of Eligibility while you are in Japan.
